I drive a 320ci 2002 and recently had my front brake pads replaced. ever since they have been noisy and sqeeky. I have beenn back to my dealer and he cleans them and yet they constantly sqeek. He tells me that this is normal and there is a 50/50 % chance of fixing this?

is this true ?

Sounds dodgy man. Brakes shouldn't squeal like that, but what can you do? Maybe take it to another service centre...like a BMW specialist. If they fix it, then pay your dealer a visit.

Noisy Brakes

I have a similar problem with my 525e. New pads and rotors installed and still same squeel problem. My tecnitian advises that when new pads and rotors are installed you should go do some hjard braking to bed them in. However the genuine part says not to do that.

Noisey brakes

Newly fitted brakes, either rotors and pads, should never create noises or vibrations. If your brakes are new or old, noises can be erradicated. I do it heaps at my workshop, that the be a dealership workshop.
Pads can be 'shamffered' around the edges to fit the worn face of a disc rotor. If not the pads are cut in-half down through the surface of the pad, about 4mm deep; but not down to the pad backing.
The other method is to get sand paper and smooth out the surface of the pad. This removes the shiny, or glazed texture on the pad. This is generally called anti-glazing.

Problems with rotors are approached the same as anti-glazing pads. Apply light sand paper to the rotor faces, this can erradicate noises.

Hopefully this gives you some technical help.
