Today, BMW announced with the M2 launch film that the brand-new BMW M2 will lap the N?rburgring in 7:58.
BMW Blog reported in 2010 that the outgoing BMW 1 Series M Coupe lapped the Ring in 8:12. A full fourteen seconds marks the passage of time and the evolution of BMW's newest bite-sized M car. It's also just six seconds behind its big brother, the M4.
BMW was vague with other details, such as whether the car that set the time was the dual-clutch version or the manual gearbox version, as this difference would undoubtably affect the final lap time. Regardless, we're happy to welcome the newest addition to the M family.
