Although I live in Colorado my M2 was purchased from BMW of San Diego. It arrived on a transport yesterday morning. Since I bought it out of state it did not have a temporary sticker so I can't legally drive it until it gets registered here in Colorado. I hope to have this done by Tuesday.

The local dealers were getting a $5k upcharge for the M2 and I would have had to wait until late August to get one so I went on line and found a Mineral Gray Metallic base with 6 MT. I got it for MSRP but had to pay shipping to Colorado.

I did put 2 miles on it this morning when a friend and I drove it down the county road behind my home to the "skid pad" a mile away where I made a few circuits just to see what it felt like. The skid pad is a paved circle with some mail boxes on one side. A number of the car guys in our subdivision have been using this for years. It originally had a white picket fence around it but one day a few years ago I saw a fellow taking down the fence. I thought that was very nice of them.[clap]

I managed to get the nannies woken up when I felt the throttle pedal go dead so now I am RTFMing to find out how to shut off the nannies.

I've owned a lot of cars and this is my 15th BMW. Mostly 1600s, 2002s, a Bavaria, a 325e and a 325ic I picked up at the factory in 1987. I currently own a 2016 Miata Club, 2016 Ram 1500 and a 5/8 scale Lotus 7. I recently sold a 2005 Miata with an LS3 conversion and a 2004 Caterham 7 with a turbocharged Miata engine.

Thanks for the welcome, I'm looking forward to exploring this car and delving into the knowledge on this forum.

How do I shut off the damned blip shift on gear changes? I have been driving it in Sport+ but it still is active. Several times it has actually accelerated the car for a moment before letting it slow down. I have been double clutching and rev matching for many years and I do a much smoother job of it than the computer does. I'd like to disable it in all driving modes, clip a wire or put in a switch.

You'll need to drive it in Comfort mode. Both Sport and Sport+ will have the aggressive shifts.

Yes, its an Escort 9500ix detector on a sticky cup mount. I plan to hard wire it soon and be rid of the curly cord and the necessity of unplugging it from the 12v port when I leave the car. Since the M2 is a tin top I may upgrade to the MAX360 which incorporates the directional arrows. I bought one for my Miata but sent it back as the OLED display was too dim to see with the top down.

Anyone done a hard wire on the M2? Tips on getting the wire from the fuse box in the engine bay into the cabin or a switched 12v source under the dash would be appreciated.

Thanks, that's perfect. I will use an Escort sticky cup to mount the detector high and to the left of the mirror, its more stealthy than having it hang below the mirror on a blend mount.
