i just found another possible trap. when someone wants to reply to a post he can easily click the new thread button instaed of reply...it happened to me just a second ago.

perhaps we should move it to another place? especially the noobs might post some nonrelated posts that way.

perhaps to the right hand side of the dialogbox? know what i mean...and maybe a little less obvious. if someone wantstomake a new thread he´ll find the button top right when the forums survey is displayed. during answering it is not that important to have that button. my 0.02

Tom, while you're at it, do you think you can allow editing for maybe 30 seconds w/out that "edited by XXX at XXXXX" showing up? I make lots of typos that I like to clean up and I never see them until I post. Yeah, I'm too lazy/impatient to hit preview first. [:D]

Can you do that with vbulletin? I'm still quite new to the tools.[:)]

I'm not positive. You can do it on e46fanatics.com There, you can edit for a few seconds after your post w/out there being any message attached saying you edited it. But, if you do it more than once, then that message pops up saying you edited your post. ANd something happens after abotu an hour after your post, forgot. Maybe you can't edit no more or something.

Alright...let me look into it.

the two buttons are not a problem for me since most of the forums i go to use vbulletin software.

yes, the time can be increased for how fast the "edited by..." shows up after editing. on dtm, it shows up fast. on bimmerforums, it takes a while.

a suggestion of mine is to add the quick reply box to the bottom of the thread. also, can html be turned on?

Hey Rob..sup buddy,

Ok I just turned those items on and there is now a 2 minute edit window. I'll be adding the quick reply after the new site is complete.

Thanks,
Tom

thread options

when viewing the thread, i have an administrator toolbar at the bottom of the screen. and im a nobody. so i know i shouldnt have it. i didnt check to see if anything would work.

also, my previous name was inconsistently-consistent, however the name was too long to register over here. im not etching to get the same name back, however i was kinda proud when i hit 20 posts and was relieved of my n00b status. lol

I agree that the quick reply box would be nice, but I know it's hard to answer everybodys requests. At first I wasn't to fond of the new site, but now I like it alot more than the other one!

Tom,
I'd remove the NEW THREAD button completely. You should have to be on the main screen of that particular subject to start a new thread, not in an already existing thread.....just my opinion, though.
When I want to post a new thread, I don't usually start it from a particular thread. I normally go to the correct subject and start it from there. You know what I mean?

Also, I'm all for the quick reply window. That thing kicked a$$.

Overall, you're doin' great!
